Kimberly's Story (2017)
2020 has been a very hard year not only with coronavirus, but my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic lung cancer in July. My dad took a leave of absence from his job to help take care of her & help me. I have had ongoing health issues from a genetic disorder. I also had major complications from a surgery 3 years ago, causing nerve damage leading to other issues, doctors & therapies. My dad then lost his job taking care of us both. I kind of fell upon Victory Tips when I called for prayer for my mom & then was told about the group. It was a divine appointment.
I’ve always wanted to have a support system with people that could understand
anxiety issues, and that wouldn’t judge. I actually had a Bible study group in my home at one point with girls. One young lady was having major anxiety issues & depression. I accidentally overheard the group making fun of her behind her back, saying that if someone had those issues then they were not a Christian. It made me so mad & infuriated I had them leave. But I think that’s also some of the reasons why so many of us have been closed off b/c we have felt like even in the church that it is unacceptable. I wanted to find a group that was uplifting and you could be transparent. I had heard from others that the groups they had been in could get a little more intense & overwhelming.
When I found Victory Tips, it was Bible-based & encouraging, and it came at a time when I really needed it, but wasn’t expecting it.
Fast forward- a week before Christmas, I get bad news about my car & got really upset but decided to still join the class. God began working on my heart & in the middle of the class, I had to stop & go apologize to my dad.
Thankful for the group & how God uses Victory Tips to move in my heart & many others who attend.
