Hi everyone. Vince Beyer here. I just want to wish you a Happy New Year! I hope you had a great Day 1 of 2026. Ann and I spent a good part of the day taking down the Christmas decorations. A big job.
Now, I don’t just want to wish you a happy new year, I want to tell you how to have a happy new year. One of the best things you could do is join a Talkfest group.
What’s a Talkfest group?
A Talkfest group is a group of people who spring into action after you ask everyone in town 2 questions:
You tell them, “I’m part of the Talkfest group in town and I’d like to ask you two questions:
- Are you happy?
- What could the community or the government do to make you happier?
After you hear them out, you tell them, “I’m going to help you make that happen. Let me introduce you my Talkfest Care Team Leader. You tell them what you told me and our team is going to help you get that thing you need.”
From there, the Care Team Leader introduces the person to our Social Media Lead who will see if they would like our team to make an online post of their need on the teams Facebook, Rumble or Telegram page. People in the community will read the posts and some may want to help out.
The potential donor contacts the teams Donor Contact and tells them, “I’d like to know more about Need Number 123.” The Donor Contact gets a commitment from the donor and then the Donor Contact contacts the recipient to see if it is a go. If yes, the Donor Contact arranges a safe way to get the items needed.
From there the Recipient is introduced to the Event Coordinator. The event coordinator finds out what days and times the recipient would like to go for coffee to make friends or share their need. A coffee meetup is set up with 2 or 4 people, with 1 or 2 of them being members of the coffee meetup volunteers. This means that there is one volunteer for every new person coming into the group. We want to take real good care of our new recipients.
At some point there will be larger meetups, but in the beginning it will be 2 or 4 person meetups.
So that’s a Talkfest group. People get heard, people get help, and people make friends. That’s how you will have a happy New Year!
This vision could end up becoming a global festival lasting all 365 days of the year!
