What Sam the Sheepdog Teaches Us
This old cartoon featuring Sam the Sheepdog and Ralph Wolf is a great example of Christianity works. Sam the sheepdog can be an example of the victorious Christian, and Ralph wolf can be an example of Satan.
The cartoons usually start with Sam and Ralph punching in for days work. Ralph’s job is to steal sheep from the sheepfold, and Sam’s job is to stop him.
Throughout our day, Satan tries to steal our happiness using irritable people, sickness, poverty, pain, unplanned-for circumstances, etc. Our job is to see through these circumstances and respond in a way that allows us to maintain our peace and happiness.
You’ll notice that nothing ever unnerves Sam as Ralph tries his best to steal sheep. Sam always seems to be one step ahead of Ralph, and foils Ralph’s plots every time. We can be the same way in life. We can reach a place where nothing unnerves us. We remain steady like a rock. This makes our Christian life enjoyable. And we are a good example to those around us who see go through trials unscathed because of our faith. May this be your experience as you live your Christian life in constant victory. Jesus will be lifted up then, and men and women will be drawn to Him. Amen!
“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
